The curriculum 'Applying Our Learning' has been developed by the staff in line with the National Curriculum 2014. The curriculum is based on key texts that have been carefully selected for each half term and for each year group. Through these texts the children 'apply their learning' in a range of curriculum areas which have links to the theme of the texts. The children are encouraged to think about what they know already and what they would like to know through the course of the half term focus and also to reflect on what they have learnt at the end of the theme.

Our curriculum takes our children on a creative journey of discovery. The curriculum is designed to enhance their knowledge, life-skills and understanding of the world. Through a text based approach we aim to empower children to be tolerant, kind and understanding towards others. We want our children to leave school with the confidence and passion to make a positive difference to the world.

We have linked our curriculum to the UNICEF Rights of a Child. Every year group has a BIG QUESTION that relates to their text. Throughout the half term they discuss the questions with each other. This will help them to consider all children's rights and to think about different viewpoints.

Each term parents are invited to spend a morning working alongside their child in class, looking at a particular focus. This helps parents to understand more about the curriculum the school is following and staff are on hand to answer any questions.
