Ignite vision for ADRIFT

We aim to create hope for our children, in a world that has many challenges. Our children will develop a greater understanding of the world and where those  who have been displaced from their homes come from. Children will gain secure geographical knowledge in the context of a human experience and explore the  concept of ‘Home’. Through the work that we do children will be able to form their own views of the  world based on fact and understand why prejudices may occur. Where appropriate they will be able to question things they may read, see or hear in the media. They will be able to engage in conversations with their families, helping to pivot perceptions and break down stereotypes. Our children will be empowered to turn their empathy into action and believe that  they can make a difference in the world.

Our Learning - Summer Term

This term we will be reading the books 'Alice in Wonderland'. We will enjoy lots of fun English, Science, Geography, History, Computing, Art and Music lessons based on these stories! These stories are linked to our work with UNICEF.

BIG QUESTION: Do adults always know best?

UNICEF ARTICLE: 3 - All adults should do what is best for you

    Reading

Please ensure that your child brings their reading book, along with their reading diary, into school everyday. We will read with your child once a week. During this one to one reading time your child will have the opportunity to change their reading book for a new one.  Please support and consolidate your child's learning by reading with them as often as possible at home ..... every little helps!

PE

PE is every Thursday, but please make sure your child has their PE kit in school every day as, on occasions, we have extra PE/sport sessions during the week.

 Milk

Please pay for milk using the online "cool milk" service (www.coolmilk.com).

 Homework

Homework is set on Friday and is due back in school the following Tuesday. All homework set will be linked to the to the books that we will be reading in our AOL lessons. Please see the 'Homework' tab above to find out more.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home on Friday and will be tested in school on the following Friday. All spellings will be based on the phonic sounds that you child will have learnt throughout the previous week in their phonics lessons.
