Miss Brennan says... Residential pictures are now online :-)

Message for parents- Thank you for all your support over the residential the children had a wonderful time. Have a fantastic half term with the children with some much needed rest and recovery! From all staff involved in the trip.

My star of the week this week goes to... Ocean for being so enthusiastic on the trip and going out of his way to help other children and adults, you really were the perfect gentleman! Keep up the hard work Ocean for when we return to school.

Come back each week to read about a new star of the week.

Look for your pictures on our class page too!

Welcome back after the holidays. During Spring 2 we will be looking at a fantastic book called Bog Baby. It is a beautiful book that teaches us about friendships, habitats, looking after each other and pond life.

I can't wait to read this book with you and I am excited to find out what this half term has in store. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.

Autumn Term Books that we looked at: After the Storm, The Smartest Giant in Town and Toys in Space.

All children have their own username and password to Mathletics and Bug Club. Please can you encourage children to go on this at home as often as possible. The children are set tasks relating to their ability and children will become more and more familiar with the sites as the year goes on. They really are fantastic and fun resources that the children both enjoy and really benefit from!

Mathletics- children are set tasks weekly relating to the current maths topic and have the opportunity to compete against classes in school, nationally and even against children from all over the world.

Bug Club- reading is of upmost importance and Bug Club just adds to the fun! Children are set books to read relating to their reading level and the more books they read the more surprises they will encounter! Comprehension questions are also asked throughout to ensure your child is understanding the text they are reading.

Try out the links to both below:

Important Information:

  1. PE is on a Monday morning. Please can you ensure that if your child wears earrings they are removed on PE days or they can be covered with plasters.

  2. All uniform needs to be clearly labelled.

  3. Homework goes out on a Friday and needs to be in the following Tuesday.( If it is in on Monday your child gets a class dojo point!)

  4. ‚ÄčSpellings are taught daily first thing in the morning. Please ensure your child is in school on time daily so they do not miss out on learning opportunities.

  5. School meals are provided free of charge so dinner money this is not necessary.

  6. AOL write (Big Write) is on a Thursday.

  7. Milk is optional in year 2 and is charged at an extra cost. Please see 'Cool Milk' under school information on the home page. The children can buy various snacks and drinks at breaktime daily. Please see the breaktime menu for prices and what is available.

  8.  In year 2 children are expected to join their handwriting. Please can you encourage and support your child as much as possible in doing so.

Reading is a vital part of your child's progression in school. All children have a reading book and reading record. Please listen (and read) to your child each day and complete the reading record. Please send both in to school every day in their book bag as they will also be reading this in school.  When completed twice, your child will change their book. If you read every night at home with your children they will receive a green dojo on a Friday. Look out for regular tasks being sent home to complete in reading journals too! Thank you!
