Bake Sale 11th July 2019 on the school playground at 3pm.

My star of the week this week goes to Hollie for producing an excellent  piece of writing.

Come back each week to read about a new star of the week.

Look for your pictures on our class page too!

Welcome back after the holidays. During Summer 2 we will be reading a much loved story called Snowy. I hope you enjoy it as much as me!

Our vision for ADRIFT

We aim to create hope for our children, in a world that has many challenges. Our children will develop a greater understanding of the world and where those  who have been displaced from their homes come from. Children will gain secure geographical knowledge in the context of a human experience and explore the  concept of ‘Home’. Through the work that we do children will be able to form their own views of the  world based on fact and understand why prejudices may occur. Where appropriate they will be able to question things they may read, see or hear in the media. They will be able to engage in conversations with their families, helping to pivot perceptions and break down stereotypes. Our children will be empowered to turn their empathy into action and believe that  they can make a difference in the world

Summer 2- Should animals work?

Summer 1Are some living things more important than others?

Spring 1- Are some countries better than others?

Article  All children have the right to practice their own culture.

Autumn 2: Should we take things that don't belong to us?

Article 29- All children should respect others.

Autumn Term Books that we looked at: After the Storm, The Smartest Giant, Toys in Space.

All children have their own username and password to Mathletics and Bug Club. Please can you encourage children to go on this at home as often as possible. The children are set tasks relating to their ability and children will become more and more familiar with the sites as the year goes on. They really are fantastic and fun resources that the children both enjoy and really benefit from!

Mathletics- children are set tasks weekly relating to the current maths topic and have the opportunity to compete against classes in school, nationally and even against children from all over the world.

Bug Club- reading is of upmost importance and Bug Club just adds to the fun! Children are set books to read relating to their reading level and the more books they read the more surprises they will encounter! Comprehension questions are also asked throughout to ensure your child is understanding the text they are reading.

Try out the links to both below:

Important Information:

  3. Homework goes out on a Friday and needs to be in the following Tuesday.( If it is in on Monday your child gets a class dojo point!)

  4. ‚ÄčSpellings are taught daily first thing in the morning. Please ensure your child is in school on time daily so they do not miss out on learning opportunities.

  5. School meals are provided free of charge so dinner money is not necessary.

  6. AOL write (Big Write) is on a Tuesday.

  7. Milk is optional in year 2 and is charged at an extra cost. Please see 'Cool Milk' under school information on the home page. The children can buy various snacks and drinks at breaktime daily. Please see the breaktime menu for prices and what is available.

Reading is a vital part of your child's progression in school. All children have a reading book and reading record. Please listen (and read) to your child each day and complete the reading record. Please send both in to school every day in their book bag as they will also be reading this in school.  When completed twice, your child will change their book. If you read every night at home with your children they will receive a green dojo on a Friday. Look out for regular tasks being sent home to complete in reading journals too! Thank you!
