Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Information

At Whitby Heath we place great emphasis on supporting each child to reach their full potential. If your child is identified as having a special educational need we will use a variety of strategies, e.g. differentiated work within their classroom or extra support in a small group or individual setting, to cater for their particular needs.

Following The Code of Practice (2014) we rcognise the 4 main areas of Special Educational Need as:

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Sensory and/or Physical
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Emotional, Social and Mental Health Difficulties

Our SENd Policy and SENd Information Report are available to download below.

If you feel that your child may have some additional need, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Our SENCO, Mrs Beach, will be able to offer additional advice and support. You can contact Mrs Beach by emailing senco@whitbyheath.cheshire.sch.uk or by phoning the main office on 0151 355 1781 and arranging an appointment.

Comprehensive local information, advice and support for families is available at: West Cheshire Live Well Website.

The Live Well website provides information for children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) and their parents or carers, in a single place. It includes information from a range of local agencies, including education, health and social care. Knowing what is out there gives you more choice and therefore more control over what support is right for your child.
