Mr Glendenning

Welcome to Year 5!

Mr Glendenning, Mrs Yates   & Mrs Ablett

I hope you find our class page useful. Take a look at our learning journey to see what we are up to this half term!

Spring term

During the Spring half term, Willow Class will be studying a fiction text; Tadpole's Promise. The book is about two characters: The tadpole and the caterpillar. Take a look at our learning journey to see what else we are up to!

Other topics that we will be covering this term include:
Dialogue, poetry, life cylces, making a stuffed toy frog and sketching/shading.

We have our new homework system in place! The system works on alternate weeks, on specific weeks the children will complete Mathletics tasks, set by myself, relating to the Maths we have worked on in class. On the other weeks, the children will be able to choose an activity from the 8 we have provided, to complete! These relate to our work in class, it could be creating an eBook, presentation, poem, or carrying out a Science investigation!

- Reading at home should be done as frequently as possible. Children should bring their reading book and reading record to school every day and take them home each night. I will be checking their reading logs.

-Bug Club is an exciting online reading resource with interesting books and reading activities. Your child knows their password and how to use the different resources on there.

- Mathletics is updated regularly with tasks. Children know their login username and passwords but can check with me. They should login and complete their assigned tasks before progressing on to Live Mathletics...let's see how many points we can get! Click on the logo to go there now!

-Willow Class have PE on a Monday afternoon. Please ensure children have their PE kits in School every day!

- Brass and woodwind lessons will take place every Thursday. Please ensure your child is practising and bringing their instruments in on the correct day.

-Please make sure your child's school clothes and equipment is clearly labelled to avoid loss.  his includes jumpers, cardigans, PE kits, lunch bags and purses or any pencil cases brought into school.
